Is smithing Art or a trade? My answer on this question is always the same: 'I don't know.' A forged object will never be Art unless it is made according to the strict rules of the trade. On the other hand, every forged object without an artistic vision is only a piece of iron.

According to the rule I've been working for 5 years as an artistic smith. My way to becoming a smith has not been typical. After studies at Wroclaw's university at the department of Polish and working for some advertising agencies in Wroclaw as a copywriter I decided to learn something 'concrete'. My first activity in the smithy was bringing beer to my boss , although in the course of time I started to forge and machine the steel. But I became a real smith a bit later.

Between 2004 and 2005 there was the turning-point - a three-month stay in UK and a contract in Colin Phillips' smithy in Southampton in Hampshire.

Collaborating with Sark Balazs from Hungary - the master of artistic smithing and the new contacts have yielded new skills and ideas.
